  2. Conversion of Absolute Magnitude(H) to Diameter

  4. The following table lists the diameters of minor planets corresponding 
  5. to the given values of the absolute magnitude, H.
  6.  
  7. Note that the scale switches from km to metres at 18th magnitude.
  8.  
  9. Conversion of H to a diameter for a specific object requires knowledge 
  10. of the object's albedo. This quantity is not known for most objects, so 
  11. the diameters listed here are given as ranges: the smaller value 
  12. corresponding to an albedo of 0.25 and the larger to an albedo of 0.05. 
  13. Most objects have albedos in this range. If a specific object has an 
  14. albedo < 0.05, the diameter will be larger than the upper limit listed 
  15. here. If the albedo > 0.25, the diameter will be smaller than the lower 
  16. limit given here.
